The Translational Science & Medicine Training Program (TSMTP) 2026 was held on August 29–30, 2026, at the Centennial Hall, Kyushu University Hospital Campus. Professor Eishi Baba of our department participated in the program as a lecturer.

The program was designed for researchers involved in drug discovery and pharmaceutical development, providing systematic training ranging from the fundamentals of small-molecule drug discovery to practical knowledge and expertise in drug development.

On the first day, Professor Baba delivered a lecture entitled “Introduction to TSMTP / Overview of Translational Research,” in which he discussed translational research and the process of bridging findings from basic research to their application in clinical practice.

The program featured lectures by experts covering various stages of drug discovery and development, including the creation of drug candidate compounds, selection of drug discovery targets, pharmacokinetics, nonclinical safety assessment, CMC and GMP, intellectual property, clinical development, and clinical trials. A panel discussion on “How to Identify Promising Drug Discovery Seeds” was also held, providing participants with a valuable opportunity to gain a broad understanding of the process from drug discovery research to practical application.
